In The Begining…

Well, typically, Facebook messed up again fixing something that wasn’t broke and making a complete pigs ear of itself. I have all my playlists online in the ‘Discussion’ tab on my shows ‘Fan Page’. Facebook have decided to remove this and as it’s the only place I have my playlists digitally stored I need to put them somewhere else! I already have a Tumblr for my tour dairy but wanted some where different to post my “professional” posts so hear we are!

I figured I may as well post all the related press side of things so along with my playlists will be reviews, interviews and my PR press releases.

IIIrd Alternative – Postfest 2012 (North Europe, UK)

***IIIRD ALTERNATIVE announced for POSTFEST 2012***

IIIrd Alternative were confirmed this week with a slot Denmarks newest underground festival, POSTFEST. The event is being held at Aarhus’ Train on 9th – 11th February 2012 and boasts an international line up of Post-Rock acts ranging from rock to prog and pop to metal.

Organiser, Steffen, said the following “IIIrd Alternative are one of the strongest new Danish bands and we had no doubt they needed to play Postfest. The extremely tight and technical rock has maybe been heard before, but it´s still strong as hell.  I heard this band at a show a year ago and was utterly blown away, I can´t wait for people to hear this!”

The band, who have been working hard on their next release; a live EP and DVD of the performance of ‘IIIA’ performed at Aarhus Music Festival, say “IIIrd Alternative strongly welcomes the initiative of an international Post Rock Festival. The fact that it is launched in our home town only emphasizes the enthusiasm. We are proud to be announced on the very first line up and especially a line up with awesome bands like this.”

The studio release of IIIA is available as a name your price download on Bandcamp: http://www.iiirdalternative.bandcamp.com.

IIIrd Alternative – IIIA (Gehör – UK)

**IIIrd Alternative join The Launch Pad PR!**
TLP is to work on a second objective to expose artists based in North Europe into the UK. Charging at the head of this initiative is Danish Progressive Post-Rockers, IIIRD ALTERNATIVE!
IIIrd Alternative are an instrumental, thorough, ambitious and diffuse targeted project where the music is the unmistakable drive and definitely is paramount. Initially founded in 2003 with the current constellation formed in 2008, the band have been stunning audiences across Denmark and now look to expand their live show into central Europe and the UK.
In 2010 the band recorded their self titled début released on their own label, Gehör, in January 2011, the release coincided with their performance at the Aarhus Music Festival. The album, available on iTunes and Band Camp, has also been released with a limited edition run of numbered CDs, meanwhile the band are looking into a special edition vinyl release.
The band describe their music as; “The alternative mirrored moving in a continuous arbitrary rotation, leaning towards metal stumbling into post-rock and passing prog-rock. Lingering in ambient spheres with a clue to undertones of an electronic dimension.”
IIIA on the thought behind instrumentalism; Music for us is the most direct form of creative expression of moods with feelings and sensations for both artist and listener. IIIrd Alternative are exploring the possibilities that instrumental music offers in terms of not dictating or predefining the perception of the moods and feelings the listener should sense or feel. As we do not imply in words or pictures the thoughts and mood to the listener, we have the potential to create an atmosphere where an audience can have totally different experiences from the same source of communication.”
You can listen to IIIA by downloading the album from Band Camp, in any high resolution format and name your own price with no minimum, at the following link: http://iiirdalternative.bandcamp.com/. IIIrd Alternative are now working on their second release, a live album from their performance at Aarhus Music Festival, aiming for a late summer release.

IIIrd Alternative are…
Lars Evers – Guitar | Rasmus Frisenvang – Guitar | Daniel Malling Zederkoff – Guitar
Hamed Golchin – Bass |Simon Meiner – Drums

Track Listing:
1.Umbra
2.Eye Against Eye
3.The Great Flood

Born Of Osiris – The Discovery (Sumerian – North Europe)

BORN OF OSIRIS – THE DISCOVERY, Sumerian (US), 22nd March 2011

Born Of Osiris are mature well beyond their years and this dynamic extreme progressive juggernaut have now perfectly honed all of their collective talents to create what will soon be a pinnacle release for the metal genre. This ground-breaking six-piece group create an epic mix of intricate and memorable melodies with challenging time signatures that still hold an infectious groove, all while maintaining sheer, tasteful brutality.

Their much anticipated third full-length album, “The Discovery”, is going to serve the scene the much needed wake-up call it so much needs. The effort was mixed by the acclaimed producer Jason Suecof (All That Remains, Trivium). Be sure to stay tuned to www.facebook.com/bornofosiris for all info on the new album and samples of new material which will be posted in the coming weeks.

Lee McKinney (guitars) further states: “I should start by saying this new album is heavier than anything the band ever released. We have moved onto seven strings and it couldn’t have complimented our sound any better. We brought back the ‘BOO-bounce’ on this one. It’s definitely a really fun and upbeat album. Also, the addition of our new guitar player Jason Richardson has increased the amount of shred on this album. There are some really incredible guitar solos on this album from the both of us. It takes the band to a whole new level of musicality. This album contains an awesome mix of our most heavy, most technical, most atmospheric and most beautiful melodies ever.”

BORN OF OSIRIS have just completed touring the UK and Europe with Darkest HourProtest The Hero and Purified in Blood and are set to return in May with The Faceless and Veil Of Maya.

For more information please contact Xander or James at yellowxander@gmail.com orjames@holdtightpr.com respectively.

TesseracT (UK 2010)

On The Road With… TESSERACT

(UK Instrumental Tour – September, 2010)

Becoming a drum tech for Jay simply came from offering whilst talking on Facebook about TesseracT and Heights playing together. I’d planned to be at 4 of the 7 gigs they had so I said I might as well roady and drive for them, then I could drum tech too, and so I did!

Friday 24th – Alton

The first gig for the mini UK (or rather surrounding London) headline tour was in Alton with Heights and two local acts but as soon as we get there, Dan‘s voice starts going and ends up he can barely talk to announce he wont be performing and the show will be acoustic. One support band was Arboretum, new but heading in the right direction. First time for me seeing Heights too and I was actually surprised there is just 3 of them! Jay plays different in this band and doesn’t use a click track though the set up is the same. By the way this venue kicked ass – lots of kids all full of energy, the place was packed!

Saturday 25th – Luton SU

The next night of the tour takes us to Basick Records 5th Birthday Party, very exciting as we get to see Chimp Spanner and Monuments too but Dan did not improve and decided to sit the entire tour out to make sure his voice recovers in time for their N.American with The Devin Townsend Project, so the tour was to be an instrumental of the Concealing The Fate EP.

image

Also little did I know I would get to meet a few Twitter friends for the first time!Lisa of UKMU all the way from bonnie Sctoland, @KatFromEarth, @GirlFromTheShip and @DizzyDalek from Cack Blabbath. Also Joel from TotalRock and TotalRock listener ‘Dave from Luton’ also known as ‘AKA’. This night there was a lighting guy too, Connor. Everyone was awesome and it was a great night!

Tuesday 28th – London

So a couple of days off for also having to miss a gig but next up is the London gig with The Safety Fire, Cyclamen and Hero In Error at Camdens Purple Turtle. Plenty of people of course as most of the countries press is based in London, also a lot of friends again and even though it’s September, it was bloody hot!

Wednesday 29th – Bracknell

Next a gig with Heights again at a theatre in Bracknell! Kool gig and went down great, lovely big stage with good access.

Thursday 30th – Nottingham

Next up we hit the Midlands greatest city in my opinion, and certainly the most rocking – Nottingham. It was actually the first time I’d be at The Old Angel for a gig! Bit of a sticky venue and an odd crowd, certainly for Nottingham, but they seemed to enjoy the instrumental set. One guitarist of a support band managed to make a fool of himself by saying to Acle that he must have liked Fellsilent and proclaimed they were his favourite band – odd that he didn’t know him or of TesseracT eh!

Friday 1st – Milton Keyenes

So for the last night in Acles home of Milton Keyenes at a venue I’d actually been to before! Supporting were Monuments and Hero In Error again over from Ireland for the ill fated Big Finger Festival, which is now cancelled and turned out to be a scam! Massive crowd here, uncertain whether they were there to see the bands or just be around music, but either way still a strong support for metal there.

Thus concludes the tour and the long drive home: Milton Keynes; Reading; Clapham; Marylebone (home)!
